Pulisic effect: NBCSN draws cable record opening weekend audience for Premier League debut

Christian Pulisic didn't start, but that didn't diminish interest in the 20-year-old American's Premier League debut for Chelsea.

Buoyed by heavy promotion of Pulisic's move to the Premier League, Sunday’s Manchester United-Chelsea match on NBCSN ranked as the most-watched opening weekend Premier League cable match ever in U.S. television and the most-watched cable match in four years.

The game registered a total audience delivery (television + streaming) average of 1.01 million viewers, the most since the 1.16 million viewers for the Manchester Derby in 2015.

Pulisic came on in the second half of the 4-0 Manchester United victory at Old Trafford, and the viewership peaked at 1.06 million TV-only viewers in the last quarter hour after he entered the game.
