Women's College Soccer: What's in the news ...

1. North Carolina opened its new stadium, the Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium on its Chapel Hill campus, with 3-0 win over Indiana. Rain delays marred the Tar Heels' Carolina Nike Classic opener. UNC played for 38 seasons (1979-2016) at Fetzer Field, where it won three of its 21 NCAA titles. Brianna Pinto scored twice and Bridgette Andrzejewski had the third goal for the Tar Heels, who outshot IU, 16-1.

2. Deyna Castellanos scored one goal and set up another with a free kick to freshman Heather Payne for top-ranked Florida State, which opened its title defense with a 2-0 win over TCU. The Seminoles' next game in Tallahassee will be Sunday against Wisconsin in the first live event on the new ACC Network, which went on the air on Thursday.

3. No. 10 Texas A&M came back from 2-1 down with 30 minutes remaining to beat No. 9 Santa Clara, 3-2, on the road. Addie McCain scored the equalizer in the 59th minute, and Jimena Lopez drove home a penalty kick in the 81st minute. Ally Watt scored the first goal of the match for the Aggies.
