What They're Saying: Sandrine Soubeyrand

"There aren't many more fans. I don't know what's missing. The ingredients are all there."

-- Sandrine Soubeyrand, the head coach of French First Division women's club Paris FC and the all-time French women's record-holder with 198 caps, after Paris FC drew 253 fans for its 2019-20 season opener against Dijon. The buzz from the Women's World Cup that ended just seven weeks earlier did not made it down to the the top tier of French women's soccer, where crowds of just 1,673, 668, 322 and 299 turned out on opening day, in addition to the crowd for Paris FC-Dijon. Chalk it up to the miserable job FIFA and the French Federation did promoting the Women's World Cup.  Chalk it up to the French press, who probably do as awful of a job covering the French Women's Pro Soccer League as the American press does covering all of soccer.
