Evening Edition: What's in the news ...

1. MLS Cup will air on both ABC and Univision for the first time. The 2019 title game will be played on Nov. 10 and air at 3 p.m. ET. It will conclude the shortened playoffs that will feature four single-elimination knockout rounds, beginning with six conference quarterfinals on the weekend of Oct. 19-20 following the FIFA window for October. The four conference semifinal games will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 23, and Thursday, Oct. 24, and the conference finals will air on Tuesday, Oct. 29, and Wednesday, Oct. 30.

2. The Real Monarchs transferred Kenyan defender Stanley Okumu to Swedish Allsvenskanliga club Elfsborg for what it described as a USL Championship record transfer fee for an outgoing player. He joined the Monarchs during the middle of the 2018 season after starring for the NPSL's AFC Ann Arbor. Okumu, 22, played for Kenya in qualifying for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

3. Costa Rica named named seven MLS players to its roster for the friendly against Uruguay on Sept. 6 in the Estadio Nacional in San Jose. The Ticos selected two players each from FC Cincinnati (Kendall Waston and Allan Cruz) and Columbus (David Guzman and Luis Diaz) along with defenders Giancarlo Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Francisco Calvo (Chicago) and Ronald Matarrita (NYCFC).
