Women's College Soccer: What's in the news ...

1. Jessie Fleming, the two-time Canadian World Cup team member, scored two first-half goals to lead No. 3 UCLA to a 2-1 win over No. 1 Florida State in the first women's college match played at Banc of California Stadium. Goalkeeper Caroline Jeffers kept the game close with nine saves for Florida State. No. 5 USC got two goals from Tara McKeown to beat No. 19 Florida, 3-1, in the nightcap of the Battle at the Banc competition that drew 3,529 fans.

2. Unranked Denver upset No. 16 Texas with a 3-0 victory to improve to 3-0-0. Freshman Camryn MacMillan helped set up senior Hannah Adler for the first two goals, and sophomore Samantha Feller added her second of the season to complete the scoring. The win was the Pioneers' first over over a ranked opponent in almost six years.

3. No. 4 North Carolina twice had to come from behind and eventually beat Washington, 3-2, in Seattle. A trio of seniors – Madison Schultz, Ru Mucherera and Bridgette Andrzejewski – scored for the Tar Heels, who recorded the 850th victory in school history.
