U.S. Soccer endows scholarship after Jill Ellis

Outgoing U.S. women's national team coach Jill Ellis has had a coaching education scholarship for women endowed in her honor.

Ellis, who led the USA to back-to-back Women's World Cup titles, attended Saturday's board of directors meeting in Weehawken, New Jersey.

Ellis announced in August that she would not stay on as national team coach for the 2020 Olympics. Her last games in charge will against South Korea Oct. 3 in Charlotte and Oct. 6 in Chicago.

A future thing for Jill Ellis is the Soccer Hall of Fame.  Of course, she had a talented group of players to work with. It is up to the coaching staff is to get the players working together as a team, among other things. Possibly, she would be involved in coaching clinics and other things. She might be a head coach again. Only time will tell. I would have liked to stay around coach in the Olympics again. She may have won a gold medal. However, I respect her decision.
