USA-Uruguay: Six U.S. players return to their clubs

Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, Zack Steffen and Alfredo Morales, who all started in the USA's 3-0 loss to Mexico, have returned to their European clubs and will miss Tuesday's friendly against Uruguay in St. Louis.

John Brooks, who was held out of the Mexico game after sustaining a tight groin in training, also returned to his club, Wolfsburg.

Backup keeper Sean Johnson was released so he could return to New York City FC. He did not dress in its 2-1 win over the New England Revolution on Saturday.

Ships, now I hope Sargent gets a chance to play, hopefully the whole game, as well as Boyd and whoever plays on the left. This would be a good game to see how the others can hold up....I'm not expecting great team play or that but looking more how each player ,individually, can handle himself...

Agreed Frank. I know Sargent can be a goal scoring forward for the National team going forward. If Berhalter will play the more skilled players we can proceed. Must have skilled mids, hoping to see Pomykal central versus Uruguay Tuesday. I haven’t been back to St. Louis in nearly 30 years, if things were different this would be an interesting game to go back to. I like Boyd, let’s hope for some good passing and possession.

Agree with both of you. With Uruguay apparently going with a fairly strong roster we wouldn't be 'playing for a win' regardless of player availability at this point, so might as well put some of the boys we at least HOPE are important to the team's future out there to see how they play against high level professionals. Even if the score line is lopsided we may find some encouraging sequences to build off of. Absolutely no sense in running Zardes, Trapp, Ream or Roldan out there unless it's specifically to see if Sargent / Dest / Pomykal / Robinson play off of them. Unfortunately I think there's almost no chance that Trapp doesn't start, and I guess I don't see any other #6 in this pool to replacce him with anyway? Pomykal and Lletget are more #8s I think? So if Trapp is in the line up both of them had better be also IMO. Have to imagine Dest is starting again if he didn't head back to Ajax.

IMHO, biggestd NT problem is the coaching staff's inability to put on the pitch a cohesive squad which is able to execute the game plan. There is no sense talking about individual player competence, most of them are at about the same level.

GB has had his chance to demostrate  his fitness for the job, but he has failed. It is not the defeats it is his blindness to select and  his inability  to make the appropiate substitutions. PLEASE soccer lovers lets do something to have a new coach !!

Zardes remains on the the squad? It's like playing with 9-field players.
