Evening Edition: What's in the news ...

1. Damian Las, the highly regarded goalkeeper on the U.S. under-17 national team, signed a three-year contract with English club Fulham. Las, who has joined Fulham's U-18s, left the Chicago Fire academy at the end of last season.  His is only 17 but is eligible to move to England because his father is Polish. He joins fellow Americans Tim Ream, Marlon Fossey and Luca de la Torre at Fulham.

2. Russia's Spartak Moscow will join Brazilian clubs Corinthians and Palmeiras and Colombia's Atletico Nacional in the 2020 Florida Cup, which will be played Jan. 13-20 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando. A kickoff exhibition played between German clubs Hertha Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt will take place Jan. 9 at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg.

3. Three of the four top-ranked NCAA small college teams in the United Soccer Coaches preseason polls are still No. 1 after the first week of the season: Tufts (Division III men), Grand Valley State (Division II women) and Williams (Division III women). West Chester is the new No. 1 in the Men's Division II poll after preseason No. 1 Barry lost to St. Thomas, 2-1.
