NWSL: Reign FC moves into fourth place with win over Royals

Reign FC took command in the battle for fourth place and the final spot in the 2019 NWSL playoffs when it beat the Utah Royals, 2-1.

The teams came into the game tied for fourth but with the Royals holding the edge on the tiebreaker.

Reign FC got goals from Bethany Balcer and Jodie Taylor. Balcer, a rookie out NAIA school Spring Arbor, has a team-high five goals.

Reign FC was playing without Megan Rapinoe, who had been in Milan on Monday night for the FIFA awards ceremony, where she was named the Women's Player of the Year.
