Phoenix Rising clinches USL Championship regular-season title

The Phoenix Rising clinched the 2019 USL Championship regular-season title when Indy Eleven fell at Pittsburgh, 3-0, after a long weather delay.

The Rising then went out and tied New Mexico United, 2-2, rallying from 2-0 down to earn a draw in front of more than 13,000 fans at Isotopes Park.

Joey Calistri scored his second goal of the game in the 90th minute, finishing off a Phoenix assault on United goalkeeper Ben Beaury's goal that included a pair of shots off the woodwork.

Phoenix has a 22-3-6 record that include a USL-record 20-game winning streak for 72 points with three games to play. The record for points in a season is 77 set by FC Cincinnati in 2018.

Eastern Conference. The Riverhounds' win over Indy Eleven moved them into a tie for first place with Nashville SC in the Eastern Conference. The New York Red Bulls II and Tampa Bay fell into a tie for third place when they both tie. Indy is now in fifth place.
