Evening Edition: What's in the news ...

1. U.S. men’s national team head coach Gregg Berhalter issued a personal letter to the American Outlaws, the main supporters’ group, apologizing for failing to thank the traveling fans after the 2-0 loss to Canada in Toronto in the Concacaf Nations League two weeks ago. He said he had no excuses and he "screwed up."

2. Hartford Athletic agreed to part ways with head coach Jimmy Nielsen after one season. The first-year Athletic finished 17th out of 18 teams in USL Championship’s Eastern Conference with a 8-21-5 record. Nielsen helped Sporting Kansas City win MLS Cup 2013 and then took up coaching, spending four seasons (2014-17) as the head coach of OKC Energy FC.

3. Konrad de la Fuente scored two more goals for Barcelona's U-19s in a 6-0 win over Ebro in Spain's Division de Honor Juvenil. The U.S. U-20 winger also scored two goals for Barcelona last week in its 4-0 win at Slavia Prague in the UEFA Youth League.

I usually find little litte of positive value to say about Berhalter. But it took class to apologize to our faithful fans and I thank him for that.

Are you the old Santi, or have you been born again?  If you’re the old guy, I’ve missed you. If you’re new, you’ve got some mighty big shoes to fill.
