Timbers hand control of T2's business operations over to baseball Hillsboro Hops

The Portland Timbers became the latest USL Championship club to link up with a minor-league baseball operation, forming a partnership with the Hillsboro Hops for the team from the Class A short-season Northwest League to operate Timbers 2, the Timbers' second team.

The Hops will run the business operations, including marketing, ticketing and sponsorship sales for T2, which will play their home games at Hillsboro Stadium, starting with the 2020 season. FieldTurf will be installed as the playing surface for T2 games.

Adjacent to the Hops' ballpark, Ron Tonkin Field, Hillsboro Stadium hosts home football games for Portland State University and Century High School.

The Timbers will continue to own T2 and manage its soccer operations.

“We are excited to partner with such a well-respected organization in the Hillsboro Hops,” said Timbers president of business Mike Golub. “It’s a tremendous opportunity to grow T2’s fanbase and create a dynamic environment for soccer at Hillsboro Stadium.”
