Louisville City's bid for a third straight USL Championship looked to be over when it trailed Indy Eleven, 1-0, late in regulation.
But Antoine Hoppenot scored an equalizer off a
corner kick in the fourth minute of stoppage time and Magnus Rasmussen and Luke Spencer added goals in overtime to send Louisville City into the final with a 3-1 win.
Saturday's game marked the fifth time in its five years Louisville City played to the Eastern Conference final.
"To fight back and to literally score an equalizer at the very end, the
last seconds, and then to go on and score two more in overtime?" said Louisville City coach John Hackworth. "I just can't say enough about the belief that we all have for what we do."
Louisville City will host the Real Monarchs at the University of Louisville's Lynn Stadium next Sunday. It will enter the game with 11 straight playoff wins.
