Defending national champion Florida State moved into the second round
of the NCAA Division I Women's Tournament with a 2-0 win over South Alabama on a pair of goals by Kirsten McFarland, both set up by Yujie Zhao.

Carolina got a pair of goals by Alessia Russo and a goal and two assists from Emily Fox in a 5-0 win over Belmont, marking the 38th straight year the Tar Heels won their opening game.
UNC tied a tournament record with 44 shots, equaling the most in a game set by Oklahoma State in 2011.

Ivory, who was lost for the NCAA Tournament with an injury picked up in the ACC final against Carolina, Virginia cruised past Radford, 3-0.
The ACC teams are all No. 1 seeds along
