NCAA Division I Women's Tournament: No. 1 seeds from ACC cruise

Defending national champion Florida State moved into the second round of the NCAA Division I Women's Tournament with a 2-0 win over South Alabama on a pair of goals by Kirsten McFarland, both set up by Yujie Zhao.

-- ACC champion North Carolina got a pair of goals by Alessia Russo and a goal and two assists from Emily Fox in a 5-0 win over Belmont, marking the 38th straight year the Tar Heels won their opening game. UNC tied a tournament record with 44 shots, equaling the most in a game set by Oklahoma State in 2011.

-- Starting sophomore Michaela Moran in place of star keeper Laurel Ivory, who was lost for the NCAA Tournament with an injury picked up in the ACC final against Carolina, Virginia cruised past Radford, 3-0.

The ACC teams are all No. 1 seeds along with Stanford, a 15-0 winner over Prairie View A&M on Friday night.

Second and third rounds: Nov. 21-22 and Nov. 23-24 at regional sites.
Quarterfinals: Nov. 29 or 30.
Women's College Cup: Dec. 6 and 8 in San Jose, California.
