U.S. U-23s, prepping for Olympic qualifying, beat the Canary Islands

Kept scoreless in the first half against a Canary Islands team coming off a 14-0 loss to Argentina's U-23s, the U.S. U-23s' second-half surge earned them a 4-0 win at the United International Football Festival in the Canary Islands.

Preparing for Concacaf Olympic qualifying in March, Coach Jason Kreis' team got its goals from captain Sebastian Saucedo (56th minute) and second-half subs Brooks Lennon (60th, 84th) and Richard Ledezma (87th)

The USA opened the four-team tournament with a 1-0 semifinal loss to Brazil, which lost in the final of the four-team tourney, 1-0, to Argentina.

The host's unofficial U-25 national team -- Gran Canaria is part of Spain -- filled in for Chile, which pulled out less than a week before the tournament. South American Olympic qualifying tournament takes place in January of 2020.
