UCLA moved into the Women's College Cup semifinals for the 11th time with a 4-0 win over defending champion Florida State in Tallahassee.
UCLA jumped out to a 2-0 lead after 18 minutes on a pair of goal by redshirt senior
Chloe Castaneda, the first set up by freshman Mia Fishel, who then took over, adding her fourth and fifth goals in the last three games.
The Bruins limited the Seminoles to
just seven shots. Goalkeeper Teagan Micah needed to make just two saves to pick up her 10th solo shutout of the season.
UCLA had beaten FSU, 2-1, in the second week of the season.
"We knew from playing them earlier in the season that it was going to be a good tactical battle, a bit of a chess match," said UCLA coach Amanda Cromwell
. "I think from that game to now you can see how much we have progressed. We were actually playing a different formation and I
think they prepared for that and changed up some stuff they were doing."
The Bruins have now won nine games in a row and 12 out of their last 13 after opening the Pac-12 season with
a pair of losses to Cal and Arizona.
