Saturday morning: What's in the news ...

1. Major League Soccer will hold the 2020 MLS SuperDraft on Jan. 9. Instead of a stage event held at the United Soccer Coaches Convention, the draft will be conducted during a jointly produced MLS and ESPN show. It will be streamed live on Twitter with cameras embedded with players at college or their homes and club decision-makers for real-time draftee reactions and live look-ins on draft rooms at club offices. It will also be streamed on the ESPN App, YouTube and Facebook.

2. The USA will play the first of two men's friendlies on an European tour when it faces Netherlands on March 26 at Philips Stadion in Eindhoven. The match will be the first friendly the USA has played in Europe since Gregg Berhalter took over as U.S. head coach. In the the USA's last trip to the Netherlands, it stunned the Oranje, 4-3, in a game played in Amsterdam in 2015.

3. The New York Red Bulls were the only U.S. team to advance to Saturday's boys under-14 quarterfinals at the ICC Futures tournament in Bradenton, Florida. The Red Bulls, who will face Paris St. Germain, beat the Michigan Wolves (2-1), ICC South all-stars (6-1) and Tottenham (2-0). The other quarterfinals: Roma-Real Madrid, Vasco da Gama-Guadalajara and Barcelona-Benfica.. On the under-15 girls side, Saturday's semifinals are LAFC Slammers-Barcelona and PDA-ICC West.
