Tuesday morning: What's in the news ...

1. Vancouver Whitecaps co-owner and director Jeff Mallett has assumed the MLS club's executive chair duties following the retirement of John Furlong. Mallett, Yahoo's founding president and COO, is also a principle partner in the San Francisco Giants and is a former co-owner of English club Derby County. Furlong joined the Whitecaps in 2012 after helping to run the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Vancouver.

2. The Tampa Bay Rowdies have given head coach Neill Collins a new multi-year contract and also named him technical director. He initially took the job of head coach in May 2018 after retiring as a player. The Scottish-born Collins joined the Rowdies as a player in 2016. The Rowdies set modern-era club records for wins (16), points (58) and goals scored (62) in 2019.

3. Orange County SC  has formed a partnership with Scottish club Rangers that covers an exchange of players and coaches and other activities. Rangers first-team and academy players will go on loan to play in the USL Championship for Orange County SC in 2020. OCSC teenagers Francis Jacobs, Aaron Cervantes and Diego Lopez spent December in Glasgow playing in Rangers' academy matches.
