Erica Walsh Dambach and Philip Poole join U.S. women's staff at Tampa camp

Erica Walsh Dambach and Philip Poole have joined the U.S. women's national team as assistant coach and goalkeeper coach on Vlatko Andonovski's technical staff for the camp that opened Sunday in Tampa.

Dambach, who coached Penn State to its first NCAA title in 2015,  served as an assistant coach under Pia Sundhage when the USA won the 2008 Olympic gold medal and finished second at the 2011 Women's World Cup.

Poole, who was hired as the associate head coach for the Wake Forest women's program in 2019, has worked with the U.S. women's program since 2012 at various levels. Graeme Abel, the women's goalkeeping coach at the last two World Cups, recently took a job as the women's head coach at the University of Oregon.

Andonovski named a 28-player roster for the 10-day training camp. He will name the 20-player roster for Olympic qualifying, which begins Jan. 28 against Haiti in Houston. At the Olympics, teams are only allowed to bring 18 players.
