The Portland Thorns acquired the first overall pick in the 2020 NWSL
College Draft from the Orlando Pride in a deal for U.S. national team defender Emily Sonnett, the rights to Australian forward Caitlin Foord and the seventh and 14th overall picks in the
2020 College Draft.
The Thorns gave up Sonnett and the other pieces in anticipation that Stanford sophomore Sophia Smith will enter draft. Smith, the lone collegian in the national team camp, had 17 goals as a sophomore for the national champion Cardinal.

-- In addition, Portland has traded U.S. national team forward Midge Purce and a 2021 natural first-round draft pick to Sky Blue FC in exchange for the rights to Costa Rican midfielder Raquel Rodriguez.
The Houston acquired forward Katie Stengel and the 22nd overall draft pick from Utah for its natural second-round picks in the 2020 and 2021 College Drafts.
