Thursday morning: What's in the news ...

1. Thierry Henry's coaching staff at the Montreal Impact will include Kwame Ampadu, who will work as an assistant coach, the same position he held under Henry at French club Monaco. The staff will be completed by assistant coaches Wilfried Nancy and Patrice Bernier, goalkeeper coach Remy Vercoutre and fitness coach Jules Gueguen, who all were with the Impact at the end of the 2019 season.

2. Nashville SC has appointed Steve Guppy, Brett Jacobs and Matt Pickens to its coaching staff for its inaugural MLS season. Guppy and Jacobs worked with head coach Gary Smith as assistants at the Colorado Rapids when they won MLS Cup 2010. Pickens, who will come on board as goalkeeper coach, was a goalkeeper on the Rapids.

3. Nicole Van Dyke was hired as the University of Washington women’s head coach. Van Dyke, who spent the last five seasons at Penn after serving as the associate head coach at Stanford, becomes the third head coach in UW history. She also coached at CSU Bakersfield and Cal State Stanislaus. Lesle Gallimore announced at the beginning of last year that the 2019 season would be her 26th and final year at the helm.
