Tuesday morning: What's in the news ...

1. Four Americans played in the Dutch second-tier clash between Ajax and PSV's second teams, including Sergino Dest, who left Ajax's first team's training camp in Qatar because of the tensions in the Middle East between the United States and Iran. Alex Mendez and Chris Gloster, Dest's teammates on the 2019 U.S. U-20 World Cup, started for Jong Ajax and Jong PSV, respectively in the 0-0 tie, while 17-year-old Joshua Pynadath came off the bench (and was red carded) for Jong Ajax. Richie Ledezma, the Jong PSV playmaker, has been with PSV's first team training in Qatar.

2. Gio Reyna, 17, will be a full member of the Borussia Dortmund first team for the second half of the Bundesliga season. He started and scored Saturday in its 4-2 win over Feyenoord at its winter camp in Marbella, Spain.  Reyna will likely still play some matches with Dortmund's U19s with whom he played in the fall.

3. ESPN+ signed a new multi-year agreement to air the Copa del Rey, the Spanish cup. It will also expand the number of live sports events that are available with the option of Spanish-language commentary, beginning in January. They include soccer competitions such as MLS, the Copa del Rey, Serie A, Coppa Italia and FA Cup, baseball, boxing and UFC.
