What They're Saying: Farid Benstiti

“The NWSL is a new challenge that will certainly be more intense and more difficult because of the stiffer competition. Everybody can beat everybody. Every match will be a fight. That’s why this will be different, especially compared to managing in France. Claiming that our expectation is to win the championship would be pretentious for my first year. I want my players to train hard and to play hard for every minute of every game. If we do that, the results will take care of themselves.”

-- Frenchman Farid Benstiti, picked from among 20 candidates interviewed, on his new job as head coach of Reign FC, now owned by OL Groupe. Benstiti is just the third head coach in Reign FC history after Laura Harvey and Vlatko Andonovski and comes with a background of two decades of coaching experience in European women's soccer, beginning with FC Lyon, the precursor to OL Féminin.
