Watch: Kobe Bryant on the joy and lessons he got from soccer

In 2018, Kobe Bryant, at the  Aspen Institute's Project Play Summit, shared his soccer history, as well as insights on coaching and parenting. Skye Eddy Bruce  of  SoccerParenting.com attended and reported: "My favorite paraphrase from the interview: My coaches gave me the cake, I put the icing on it." Bryant was born in Philadelphia in 1978. He was introduced to soccer and embraced it while living in Italy for 8 years as his father was playing in Lega Basket Serie A. Bryant died on Sunday in a helicopter crash. The mourning extends well beyond the basketball world.
