Tuesday Morning: What's in the News

1. Mauricio Isais, an 18-year-old Texas native who grew up in North Carolina, made his Liga MX debut, coming on for the last 19 minutes of Leon's 3-0 win over Pachuca. Isais is playing for Leon on loan from Pachuca, which discovered the attacking midfielder at the 2017 Sueno Alianza de Futbol's showcase. Pachuca and Leon are owned by Grupo Pachuca. In 2019, Isais played for Leon's U-20s and third division Tuzos Pachuca.

2. Mike Muñoz has been named head coach of Toronto FC II, which plays in USL League One. Muñoz spent the last six years with the LA Galaxy, where he served as Galaxy Academy Director and coached Galaxy II from January 2017 to July 2019, when he was replaced by Junior Gonzalez. At Toronto FC II, Munoz replaces Michael Rabasca. Munoz worked with FC Toronto head coach Greg Vanney at Real Salt Lake-Arizona and Chivas USA.

3. After serving as the “Voice of the Crew” since the team's 1996 launch, Dwight Burgess is stepping down. The 59-year-old served in TV and radio booths for Columbus Crew games and hosted various Crew SC television and radio programs. Burgess, who also works high school, college and other pro events, is not retiring from broadcasting and will continue coaching Wittenberg University's men’s soccer team.
