American referees Karen Abt, Alicia Messer and Jennifer Garner picked for Concacaf championship

U.S. Socccer referee Karen Abt and assistant referees Alicia Messer and Jennifer Garner were selected for the 2020 Concacaf Women's U-20 Championship, which serves as the region's U-20 World Cup qualifying competition. American Sandra Serafini  was selected to serve as an assessor at the tournament that takes place Feb. 22-March 1 in the Dominican Republic.

Abt's experience includes the 2019 SheBelieves Cup, Victory Tour and U-15 and U-17 Concacaf Boys Championship. She is an NWSL official.

Messer has worked MLS, NWSL and USL Championship games, and was an AR during the 2019 SheBelieves Cup.

Garner has officiated at the SheBelieves Cup, Victory Tour and in MLS, NWSL and USL Championship.

Serafini, the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Innovation at the Professional Referee Organization (PRO), has worked as a Referee Assessor for the last 10 years after retiring as a FIFA Ref in 2009.

The four Americans are among 12 center refs, 24 ARs and eight assessors from the Canada, Cuba, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Trinidad & Tobago and the USA picked.
