What They're Saying: Bruce Arena

It’s not great, but it’s not terrible. I think they’ll be positioned to qualify for the next World Cup. I have no doubt in my mind they’ll qualify the next World Cup. No doubt. ... The way the format is set for qualification, I think they'll be positioned to qualify.”

I listened to GB's press conference today. He seems an intelligent fellow. I just wish that he was someone he is not. Maybe some day he will become that someone.

In my experience players tend to fall into two categories, players that live to attack with the ball and players that live to snuff attacks. Their preference tends to color how they see the game, even what they see and don't see in the game.

People who see both sides of the game are special. I think Bruce Arena is special. (Bob Bradley deserves mention for his successful game plan against Spain in 2009, as does Jull Ellis for all she has done.)
