Tuesday morning: What's in the news ...

1. The New York Red Bulls named Wolves sporting director Kevin Thelwell as their head of sport, a new position in which he will oversee all aspects of their sporting side. Sporting director Denis Hamlett will remain in charge of day-to-day soccer operations and report to Thelwell. During Thelwell's tenure at Wolves, it went from playing in England's third tier to winning the Championship and earning promotion to the Premier League in 2018. Wolves, which features such stars as Mexican Raul Jimenez and Spaniard Adama Traore, is eighth in the Premier League after finishing seventh in 2018-19.

2. Orange County SC has signed a trio of youth internationals on loan from the academy system of Scotland's Rangers for the 2020 USL Championship season. Cammy Palmer and Danny Finlayson play for Northern Ireland while Matthew Shiels represents Scotland.

3. Utah Royals midfielder Mandy Laddish announced her retirement after making a comeback in 2019 following a near career-ending injury in 2016. She came back from multiple hip surgeries to play 11 games for the Royals. Laddish was part of FC Kansas City teams that won back-to-back NWSL championships in 2014 and 2015.
