Wednesday morning: What's in the news ...

1. U.S. U-20 winger Konrad de la Fuente trained with Barcelona's first team for the first time this week. It came after he scored his first goal for Barcelona B, Barca's third division team, the winner in a 2-1 victory over El Prat. ESPN reported de la Fuente was set to a sign three-year contract extension with an option for the 2022-23 season. He started for the USA at the 2019 Under-20 World Cup in Poland and is eligible for the 2021 Under-20 World Cup in Indonesia.

2. Former MLS players Didier Drogba, Dwayne De Rosario and Alecko Eskandarian are among the players who agreed to play in the May 23 benefit game at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium to raise funds and honor thousands of volunteer firefighters and state emergency service personnel who have been fighting bushfires in Australia. The money from ticket sales and donations will help rebuild soccer clubs impacted by the fires.

3. Detroit City FC will have 12 NISA and UWS home games carried on WMYD-TV20 Detroit as part of its  first-ever television deal. The coverage will kick off at Keyworth Stadium with the NISA opener against the Oakland Roots on March 21. Le Rouge is in its first professional men's season and its fifth at the historic Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck. The women's team is new in 2020.
