Thursday morning: What's in the news ...

1. Sunday's Concacaf Olympic women's qualifying final between the USA and Canada averaged 307,000 viewers on FS2, the largest audience on the Fox sports network since the 2019 Women's World Cup. Friday's deciding USA-Mexico match drew 366,000 viewers on FS1. FS1 was unavailable on Sunday because it carried NASCAR racing, which averaged 2,455,000 viewers. The viewerships for the first three Concacaf Olympic qualifiers: 195,000 (USA-Haiti on FS2), 174,000 (Panama-USA on FS1) and 325,000 (USA-Costa Rica on FS1).

2. Eric Lichaj tore ankle ligaments in Hull City's 3-0 loss to Blackburn Rovers and is expected to be out at least 2-3 months. Lichaj has played 29 of 32 English League Championship games in 2019-20 and 241 games over the last seven Championship seasons with Hull City and Nottingham Forest. According to Hull City manager Grant McCann, teammate Herbie Kane suffered the same injury and will also likely miss the rest of the season.

3. U.S. Club Soccer's first-ever id2 National Selection International Tour for girls players born in 2005 will take place March 13-24 when 18 girls representing 14 clubs from 10 states will travel to England to play top academies. Tricia Taliaferro, the Sunrise FC Prime girls ECNL and player development director, will serve as the head coach. The 2020 id2 tour for boys -- 2006 birth years traveling to England and Scotland -- will also take place over the same dates.
