1. Rick Schantz was named the 2019 USL Championship Coach of the Year after leading the Phoenix Rising to league records fortotal wins (24), total points (78) and goals (89) in a regular season. They followed a 20-game winning streak that broke modern-era outdoor pro records for North American soccer. Schantz’s successcame in his first full season at the helm in Phoenix. In June 2018, he was named interim coach in place of Frenchman Patrice Carteron and went on to lead the Rising to the 2018 final.
