A valid argument can be made about these players developing largely without the rigidity of so called Academies and their overwhelming enphasis on fitness. If I remember correctly, the decision to leave Hugo Pérez out of the squad severely weakened the US chances, the team unfortunately focused way too much on running and did not fully take advantage of a few creative gems it did have. Overall, a balanced team that could have achieved more.

Octavio, No Perez????? What do you expect when you see who the coach is. "Focus on running", duh...no surprise there....When you look at these players and compare them to today's group and considering the so-called improvement in licensed coaches, DA programs and what not over the years can you honestly say that today's players are better....I don't think so.....
