1980. US Youth Soccer begins first girls competition with U-19 Athena Cup.
2007. D.C. United wins inaugural SUM U-17 Cup (now Generation Adidas Cup)
2007. U.S. Soccer's Development Academy for boys kicks off with 64 clubs.
2009. First ECNL season for girls includes 40 clubs competing in three age groups.
2017. First year of Boys ECNL features 56 teams in five conferences.
2017. U.S. Soccer Girls' Development Academy launches with 69 clubs.
2020. Girls Academy formed with seven conferences.
2020. MLS announces new youth platform with 95 initial members.

    If my memory serves me...U.S. U20 qualifies for the first time in history to a world competition in 1980 CONCACAF Qualificatiion and in 1981 plays in the FIFA Sub-20 World Cup for the first time. Am I missing some thing here? This seems important.
