Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was moved to say that Raymond Domenech and France are treating his player, Claude Makelele, like "a slave." Makelele, who was called up for France's Euro 2008 qualifiers
against Georgia this weekend and Italy next week, now wants to retire from international soccer again, but he never mentioned this until after Domenech called him up. This means the player will be
suspended from club matches if he fails to turn up for France's upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers. "We have no chance," said Mourinho. "Makelele is not a football player -- he is a slave. He's played the
biggest game you can, the World Cup final, and now he wants to retire but the coach [Raymond Domenech] told us if he is not playing for France, he is not playing for Chelsea. We know the rules. You
are a slave, you have no human rights." Mourinho's right, those are the rules set in place by FIFA to preserve the importance of international competitions.
