2. MLS WRAP: Buddle blasts Bulls to first Bruce win

GOALFESTS. This MLS season will likely be the lowest scoring in the league's 11-year history, but at least on Saturday some teams remembered where to find the goal. ... Bruce Arena celebrated his first win as Red Bulls coach with a 6-0 thumping of Real Salt Lake in which halftime sub Edson Buddle scored a hat trick, matching the three goals he had scored in 21 previous games this season. Jack Stewart's ejection gave the Bulls a man advantage for 82 minutes. ... Chivas USA edged Houston, 3-2, as Ante Razov scored twice to join Colorado's Jeff Cunningham as the league's leading scorer with 14 goals. Chivas USA, with 39 goals in 24 games, is second in scoring to D.C. United (41). ... But D.C. United was thumped, 5-2, by a Los Angeles Galaxy led by a sparkling Landon Donovan, who scored twice. Donovan had been greeted by RFK Stadium fans with banners referring to his World Cup performance, including one that read: "Match tickets $100. Airfare $1000. Landon in Germany Worthless!" Donovan said after the game, "The D.C. supporters are always a little rude. If they want to keep motivating me that way, I'll put four in on them next time."... Things were back to normal on Sunday as both games ended 1-0. New England ended a six-game winless streak to edge lowly Columbus while Kansas City handed Dallas its third straight shutout defeat.
BOTH WAYS. Los Angeles defender Chris Albright scored for his team and notched an own goal in the Galaxy's win over D.C. United.
FIRED UP. Coach Dave Sarachan's job security looks better now that the Chicago Fire has pulled off three straight wins (plus two U.S. Open Cup wins). The Fire had gone winless in five home games before the recovery, which included a 1-0 win last weekend over Colorado on a goal by rookie Dasan Robinson that moves the Fire into second place in the East.
HIGH, LOW. A season-high RFK Stadium crowd of 24,159 for D.C. United-Los Angeles (5-2); at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, 6,573 watched the Wizards beat FC Dallas.
