Las Vegas Lights hire Yallop to replace Wynalda for rest of 2020 season

The Las Vegas Lights appointed Frank Yallop as their new head coach for the remainder of the 2020 USL Championship season.

Yallop will fill the vacancy following the departure of Eric Wynalda, but it is an interim appointment. He will not pursue the permanent position of head coach after the 2020 season.

Yallop coached the San Jose Earthquakes twice in MLS, leading them to MLS Cup titles in 2001 and 2003 and a Supporters' Shield title in 2012. He was MLS Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2012.

He also coached the LA Galaxy and Chicago Fire in MLS and the USL Championship’s Phoenix Rising. He most recently was the general manager of Fresno FC, which did not return for the 2020 USL Championship season.

Lights FC will resume its season in July. In its only game so far, it earned a 1-1 draw at San Diego Loyal, out-shooting the expansion team, 21-2
