USYS grants older players sidelined by Covid another season

Because the COVID interruption stole from players in their last season of age eligibility their final chance to play in U.S. Youth Soccer's major competitions, USYS has changed the age cutoff dates for the 2020-21 season.

For the USYS National League (including the Conferences, Showcase Series and Playoffs) and National Championship Series (including State, Regional and National competitions):

Only in effect for the 2020-21 season, the oldest age group will be 19/20 and under -- for players born in 2001 or later.

“The National Championship Committee unanimously supports this initiative to allow players an additional chance to raise a US Youth Soccer National Championship trophy,” said Bob Hart, Chair, USYS National Championship Committee.

For the USYS Presidents Cup (including the State, Regional and National competitions):

The oldest age group for the 2020-21 season will be 18/19-U (players born in 2002 or later).
