Covid-19: USL pro leagues have 17 individuals test positive over two weeks

The United Soccer League released its first report of testing done on players and club staff at USL Championship and League One teams:

USL Championship: 2,357 tests administered on 1,227 individuals from 35 clubs, nine persons testing positive from eight clubs.

USL League One: 720 tests administered on 385 individuals from 12 clubs, eight persons testing positive from five clubs.

The results covered a two-week testing period -- June 30-July 13. They do not include any results of last week's testing. Both leagues postponed one game over the weekend because individuals tested positive.

The USL Championship has resumed with 25 games played over the last two weeks, some with fans in the stands. USL League One played its season opener on Saturday.

The USL and USL Players Association will release test results on a weekly basis.

MLS testing. MLS has been releasing testing results from the MLS is Back Tournament every other day. It has reported 25 positives since the first release on June 28, but none in the report issued on Monday of the 1,106 individuals who are staying at the league hotel in Florida and were tested over the weekend.

No one still involved in the tournament -- FC Dallas and Nashville SC were both sent home -- has tested positive since Sporting KC announced on July 10 one of its players received a pair of consecutive positive test results.
