USL Championship: Paul Dalglish returns as Miami FC head coach

Paul Dalglish, the Miami FC president and general manager, will return as head coach of the USL Championship team after it opened its first season in the Division II league with three losses.

Dalglish will coach Miami FC for the remainder of the 2020 season, replacing Nelson Vargas. The move came after a 3-0 loss to Tampa Bay in the home opener.

“We want to thank Nelson for leading the club during these recent times,” said Dalglish. “The first half of our last game against Tampa Bay showcased what we want this team to be and we plan on building on the foundations laid by Nelson in 2020. We need to continue to focus on what has made this club so successful in these recent years.”

Dalglish joined Miami FC in 2018, leading it to back-to-back NPSL national championship and the NISA East Coast championship in 2019 before becoming president and general manager last November.

The only other USL Championship without a point is Timbers 2, which has lost five games in a row.
