NCAA's Board of Governors will meet on Aug. 21 to consider moving postponed fall championships to the spring

It's all but a formality that the NCAA won't hold fall championships.

All but six Division I conferences have shut down fall sports. The others are football conferences, mostly in the South.

Postponed fall sports:
Conferences: 23 of 32.
Conferences with women's soccer:
25 of 31.
Conferences with men's soccer: 20 of 24.
Conferences with football: 13 of 22.

The NCAA's Board of Governors will meet on Aug. 21 to confirm the cancellations and consider moving fall championships to the spring. It left it up to the three divisions to decide whether to proceed with fall sports. The NCAA Division II and III councils cancelled fall sports championships but won't hold them in the spring.

The NCAA Division I Council has not voted, but the NCAA previously said that if 50 percent or less of schools aren't playing a fall sport due to the coronavirus pandemic, then it won't hold a championship in the sport.
