Plans for 2021 NCAA Division I spring soccer season set

The NCAA Division I Council approved the proposals from the Competition Oversight Committee for the organization of spring championships in seven fall sports whose championships were postponed because of COVID-19.

The 2021 spring soccer seasons:

Men's soccer.

Regular-season dates: Feb. 3-April 24.
Tournament selection date: April 25.
College Cup dates: May 13-17.
Tournament size: 36 teams (24 conference champions, plus 12 at-large entrants).

Women's soccer.
Regular-season dates: Feb. 3-April 24.
Tournament selection date: April 25.
College Cup dates: May 13-17.
Tournament size: 48 teams (31 conference champions, plus 17 at-large entrants).

The tournament sizes reflect the NCAA's decision to reduce the postseason fields for all fall team sports by 25 percent but make sure that all champions from eligible conferences are automatic qualifiers.

The selection process will take into account games played by teams competing in the fall. Four women's conferences -- ACC, Big 12, SEC and Sun Belt -- and two men's conferences -- ACC and Sun Belt -- are playing in the fall along with a handful of teams from other conferences playing non-conference schedules.<
