After Maxi Moralez,
likely sidelined for most of the rest of the regular season with a knee injury, New York City FC has lost Heber for the remainder of the year.
The Brazilian forward suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to Toronto FC. He is expected to undergo surgery in the near future to repair the tear and begin his recovery process.
Heber scored 15 goals in 22 games in 2019, his first season in MLS after being acquired from Croatia's HNK Rijeka. He has just one goal in 12 games in 2020.
The latest loss leaves Taty Castellanos, Alex Mitrita and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi in the NYCFC attack.
