COVID-19: First MLS game postponed over confirmed positive tests since July

Sunday's MLS match between the Colorado Rapids and Sporting Kansas City at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park has been postponed after one Colorado player and three Colorado staff members tested positive for COVID-19 and those results were confirmed.

MLS made the decision to postpone the game based on the number of positive test results and the need for additional testing and evaluation. Every other Rapids player and staff member is asymptomatic and received negative test results for COVID-19.

It's the first match to be postponed for confirmed COVID-19 cases since FC Dallas and Nashville SC had their opening matches at the MLS is Back Tournament postponed. Both teams were soon thereafter excluded from the tournament for the outbreaks within the team.

The D.C. United-Toronto FC match scheduled to be played on July 12 was postponed 24 hours, but it involved an unconfirmed positive test and inconclusive test, one on each team.

Saturday's FC Cincinnati match against NYCFC was scheduled to go ahead even though an FC Cincinnati player confirmed to be positive for COVID-19. Defender Nick Hagglund revealed he was the FC Cincinnati player.
