Three things to know about ... Maryland Bobcats

The Maryland Bobcats have joined NISA as the third division league's newest member for 2021.

1. The Bobcats' four owners -- Jide Saba, Peter Mwanti, Sam Oluleye and Ankur Patel -- met at UMBC and started the program in 2010 as World Class Premier Elite. The club is Black-owned with a front office and team of mostly people of color. Its tentative plan is to play at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

2. In 2018, World Class Premier Elite won spring season championships in both the Washington Premier League and Maryland Majors Soccer League.

3. In late 2019, World Class Premier Elite was rebranded as the Bobcats, and they've since won a pair of championships: the 2019 UPSL fall title in February and the NISA Independent Cup's Mid-Atlantic regional title in August.
