Girls Academy links with MLS and U.S. Youth Soccer

The Girls Academy, the new national girls league, has announced agreements with MLS and U.S. Youth Soccer.

MLS vice president and technical director of player development Fred Lipka, who is heading up MLS Next, will join three other individuals from the new boys league in holding positions on the GA’s technical advisory committee.

They will work together on establishing academy standards throughout coaching, individual player development and staffing, collaborating on showcase events and talent identification in partnership with USYS. MLS announced a new regional competition platform for young boys and girls players that it will operate in cooperation with USYS.

The GA will use USYS for league sanctioning and player registration, operating as an affiliate member at the top of USYS's youth development pyramid.
