Yanks in Europe: Haji Wright and Aron Johansson strike again

Haji Wright grabbed a share of the scoring lead in the Danish Superliga with his fifth goal of the season for SönderjyskE, a 2-1 winner at Randers to move into the league lead.

It was quite a goal for the 22-year-old forward, who picked up the ball about 40 yards from goal with two defenders on him, turned and muscled his way free and scored on a breakaway.

Aron Johannson scored his 10th goal of the season for Hammarby in a 3-1 win at Ostersunds FK, moving into double digits in goals for the first time since the 2013-14 season at AZ that helped him earn a spot on the USA's 2014 World Cup team.

Andrija Novakovich had a goal and an assist for Serie B's Frosinone in a 2-0 win at Pescara.

With no clear heir to the USMNT striker spot, I hope that at age 22 Haji Wright at least starts getting into camps to see how he stacks up. Josh Sargent seems to have seized a job at Bremen, but with massively increased minutes the goals / assists aren't following at all. I'm not counting Sargent out, but at this point I see no more reason to count on him for production on the USMNT than Wright, Johansson, Weah, or hell even Zardes (and good god I can't believe I'm saying that).
