COVID-19: Top-ranked Pitt men cancel remaining regular-season games

Pittsburgh, the top-ranked men's team in the United Soccer Coaches fall rankings, canceled its two remaining regular-season games -- against Notre Dame (Oct. 30) and Syracuse (Nov. 6) -- after it paused all team activities due to COVID-related protocols.

The Panthers have already qualified for the 2020 ACC Tournament, which will begin with a quarterfinal matchup on Nov. 15 at a site to be determined.

In its most recent game, Pitt defeated Louisville, 4-1, on the road for its first win ever over the Cardinals. Its record in the ACC is 4-0-0. The four wins are tied for most conference wins in a season. Pitt went 4-3-1 in 2019.

French star Valentin Noel scored in its third straight game for his fifth goal of the year in the Louisville win. Senior Bryce Washington had his first goal of the season, and freshmen Filip Mirkovic and Luke Mort scored their first collegiate goals.
