COVID-19: Rowdies will be without head coach and assistant for Sunday's USL Championship final

The Tampa Bay Rowdies will be without head coach Neill Collins for Sunday's USL Championship final against the Phoenix Rising after they confirmed he and two other members of the organization tested positive for COVID-19.

On a media call ahead of the final, Collins said assistant coach Kevin Foley also tested positive and will miss the game.

All Rowdies players, staff and executives underwent urgent rapid testing at the medical facilities of Major League Baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays, and no other positive tests were confirmed.

Collins said he had begun feeling mild symptoms on Thursday, and after his positive test result he and his family began quarantine. He added he had full confidence in the Rowdies' other assistant coaches, Stuart Dobson and Chad Burt, who will be in charge of the Rowdies on the sidelines.

Friday's USL League One final between the Greenville Triumph and Union Omaha was canceled after multiple individuals on Union Omaha’s covered persons list tested positive for COVID-19. Triumph SC was declared the champion on the basis of points per game with 2.1875.  It had a six-point margin over second-place Omaha.
