The win moved Wolfsburg into fifth place, just two points behind leader Bayern Munich.
Josh Sargent was a late scratch for Bremen after injuring his ankle.
Before the game, Bremen coach Florian Kohfeldt said Sargent had become an invaluable part of his improved team's attack and the problems opponents had playing his team had a lot to do with Sargent's recent play.
