USMNT: El Salvador friendly will be first home national team game in nine months

The USA will face El Salvador in a men's international friendly on Dec. 9 at the new 18,000-seat Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The game will provide U.S. head coach Gregg Berhalter to look at young MLS players who have completed their seasons, including candidates for the U-23 teams and U-20 teams. The roster will be announced on Tuesday.

The game will be the first home game a U.S. national team has played in almost nine months. Capacity for the match will be limited to 2,500 fans.

Nothing like throwing all the new, fresh meat into the CONCACAF meat grinder. El Salvador--ranked 70th. Hasn't been to the World Cup in 40 years. Why are teams like this scheduled? The risk vs reward seems skewed to me.
