Orlando City's Andres Perea has replaced Frankie Amaya in the U.S. national team camp after the FC Cincinnati midfielder tested positive for COVID-19 following is arrival at the camp in Florida ahead of the friendly against El Salvador.
Perea, 20, was born in Tampa, Florida, but was raised in Colombia. He joined Orlando City in 2020 on a one-year loan from Atletico Nacional and made 23 appearances for Orlando, including 11 starts.
Perea played for Colombia at the 2019 U-20 World Cup, starting five games, and would require a one-time change to represent the USA in international competition. The LA Galaxy's Efrain Alvarez, who played for Mexico at the 2019 U-17 World Cup, is in a similar situation. They will be able to train but can't represent the USA until file a change of association approved by FIFA.
Amaya was not in contact with any other players or staff following his arrival and is in isolation and observing federation quarantine protocols. No other players or staff have tested positive.
